The Confluence Winter 2001

Canyon Keeper Update

The Auburn State Recreation Canyon Keepers (ASRACK) enters their fourth season and plans to expand their activities further. While their primary mission is to support the ASRA ranger staff during "duty" at the confluence (for which the group received a Community Service Award from the Elks Club in November 2001) their other activities include monthly meetings with guest speakers and monthly hikes. Additionally, the group is working with other organizations to help develop and maintain trails within ASRA. A series of new trail descriptions is being prepared for distribution. The group expects to expand the Jr. Ranger Program for area youngsters during the summer months. In addition to the ASRA staff, a number of local experts in the fields of natural history, biology, botany and physics will participate this year in the new volunteer training which will take place during May-June 2002.

The group welcomes new members.
