PROTECT AMERICAN RIVER CANYONS

The Confluence Winter 2004

In Memory of Joshua Haynes

Joshua Haynes, (back to camera), and PARC Board Member Tony DeRiggi guide a raft over-filled with shopping carts thrown from the Auburn-Foresthill Bridge down river for pick up at the Confluence.

Joshua Haynes was a passionate river advocate and crusader who loved being outdoors experiencing and protecting nature. Josh loved to fish and relax along the river. He also enjoyed the rigorous physical challenges of mountain biking the canyon trails. Josh was a regular participant in PARC's annual American River clean-ups over the past several years. He wouldn't accept that mysterious side of human nature that willfully contaminates the river experience with trash and disregard. Josh was only 26 years old but possessed a wisdom some people never achieve. We will miss his enthusiastic participation in our river appreciation endeavors and send our love and support to his family and friends. Contributions made in his memory will be used for PARC's Youth Adventure Programs and to purchase a helicopter cargo net for removing trash from the canyons.
