ACTION ALERT-Let Our River Flow:
Creating the American River Confluence Parkway
By Tim Woodall

The late Frank Olrich had a dream. Frank loved the American River, and he had a special fondness for the stretch of the American River lying directly below the city of Auburn. Frank felt this beautiful wilderness canyon, lying literally at Auburn’s doorstep, was a unique community asset deserving greater recognition and access by residents and visitors alike.

"PARC Believes the tunnel closure/river restoration plan, known as the 'mid-channel' alternative has clearly superior environmental and recreation benefits."
Before he died, Frank proposed naming this portion of the canyon the American River Confluence Parkway ("ARCPark"). Lying within the Auburn State Recreation Area, ARCPark would extend from just below Lake Clementine on the North Fork and Mammoth Bar on the Middle Fork, through the confluence of the
North and Middle Forks, past No Hands Bridge, and downriver through the former Auburn Dam site to Oregon Bar.

Protect American River Canyons (PARC) is committed to help make Frank’s ARCPark dream become a reality. We believe that as Auburn and Placer County continue to grow, there will be an increasing demand for outdoor recreational opportunities. (Continued on page 2)
