The Confluence Spring 2002
News from the Auburn State Recreation Area Canyon Keepers
The Canyon Keepers are preparing for their fourth summer
at the confluence. They have also been active in recent months with meetings
(with guest speakers), monthly hikes and trail building (working on the
new connector trail between upper and lower Lake Clementine Roads) and
maintenance. This year an extra day of training for current members will
be held in April focusing on ways to present information for both children
and adults. Special Instructors will include Evan Jones, Ernie Riley and
Rich Silver.
The Canyon Keepers will be taking over responsibility (from Ranger Mike
Lynch) for presenting guided historic bridges walks from the confluence
and will conduct several tours during this year's Confluence Festival.
Additionally, good progress is being made on a series of trail guides
for ASRA as well as development of a self-guided walk covering the historic
bridges and flora near the confluence of the North Fork and Middle Fork
of the American River.
