The
American River Confluence Festival committee would like to invite
you and your family to our eleventh annual Confluence Festival on
Sunday, June 9th from 9am to 5pm at the American River Overlook off
Pacific Street in Auburn. The festival is one of PARC's major community
endeavors to educate people about the natural, cultural, recreational
and economic benefits provided by a healthy American River Watershed
in our foothill region of the North and Middle Forks.
This year's festival will feature a Placer High School student art
show including a photo quilt, clay sculpture and paintings based on
the American River theme. You can also raku a ceramic wildlife creature
or paint your own canyon animal mask. The Eddies will play their upbeat
and humorous songs. Gabe and Barbie will have their Wild Things featuring
animals found in our river canyons. Como Say Llama will be offering
llama rides. After participating in a canyon fun run, a mountain bike
ride or paddling a kayak under No Hands Bridge, enjoy a therapeutic
massage. Hikes will be lead by naturalists and the Canyon Keepers.
Mike Lynch will present a detailed slide presentation of the construction
of the Mountain Quarries railroad.
The Confluence Festival photos gracing the pages of our newsletter
were contributed by Tracy Smith-Conners. Since the Festival began
11 years ago she has been photographing the fun, friendship and river
appreciation shared at PARC's annual event. We appreciate the wonderful
legacy of images Tracy has created for all to enjoy and wish her good
health!
